Shambhala Day

February 18th (2018)

Date details +
    Room: Shrine Room

Shambhala New Year is nearly upon us, when we will enter the Year of the Earth Dog and welcome its qualities of loyalty, integrity, joy and generosity. It is also a time when we will gather together to enjoy traditions of our warrior culture, receive direction and teachings from Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and celebrate the beginning of a new year as a global community.

Our annual holidays mark the rhythm of our shared experience and culture, and provide the opportunity for us to join together. Shambhala Day is particularly associated with reflecting upon the year that has passed, and setting our intentions for the future.

During the weeks before Shambhala Day, it is a traditional time to refresh and clean our shrines, homes and centres so that we can begin the new year with a fresh start.

    Rough schedule:

10am - meditation, Shambhala Sadhana, lhasang

11am awards, thanking people for their volunteer service to our community, followed by a quick community meeting and discussion.

12pm potluck lunch, always a big hit!

    * Please bring a potluck dish to share- anything you feel would add to the celebratory atmosphere!

    - annual address from the Sakyong, if it's recorded in time.

    - lots of time to mingle with your favorite sangha members

    - guaranteed cute kid attendance

    - we can talk about how much we love dogs!
